Archive for November, 2009Role Play Media NetworkTuesday, November 24th, 2009From the VaultThursday, November 19th, 2009I was moving my files to an upgraded computer and ran across the DC Mail List archives. These are DCML archives before about 1999, when the license for Dark Conspiracy was first transitioned to Tantalus. Unbeknownst to me at the time, yours truly was the first to post on that list. That was in 1996 when the web was young. 1996. Yep. That’s a long time. Some of the participants on the list were the original developers of Dark Conspiracy. Well after looking at that archive, we decided to sift through it and dredge up the best little nuggets we could find. In Issue #3 we will have our second “department”, “column?” In a one pager, called From the Vault, we will present the best of the DCML. Or at least what we think is the best. BTW, should anyone want to actually look through those archives, they are posted to the files section of the Yahoo! Dark-Conspiracy Group, but you have to join to get to them. It’s ok. I’m a co-moderator on that mostly dried up, but venerable list. Maybe we can kick start it again? Maybe when DC3E comes out? Hot War in the Dead of Night?Thursday, November 19th, 2009Scott, who gave us Lamp Posts in Bloom, would like to write and contribute to Protodimension Magazine, material for these two games:
I hope to get in contact with their publishers. Until that happens, here is a link to Hot War review at RPGNet. Contested Ground Studios are located here. Hot War is an alternate history grim horror setting in 1963 London after WWIII leashed havoc upon the world. Kind of an alternate Twilight:2000…with monsters. You can get a hard copy or PDF from Contested Ground… Scott’s other recommendation is Dead of Night from SteamPower Publishing. A link to an RPGNet review is here. A small format book for Role Playing classic horror, as in RKO to Hammer. You can get this one on DriveThruRPG. Link to it through RPGNet to share the wealth, eh? (Kinder, gentler…I am trying to remember that…) Both games look decent. I will second Scott’s endorsement as soon as I get a Fair Use understanding with the publishers. If anyone wants to review them for us, let me know or just send it in. Perhaps as a small-publisher anthology? Anyone? Anyone? Cheers! NormWant to write better adventures?Tuesday, November 10th, 2009Not that Protodimension Magazine contributors need any guidance, but Cheri Arbuckle over on Evil Machinations has some guidance for would be adventure writers. It’s good advice. Evil Machinations by the way, is devoted to the stately art of GMing. Lot’s of goodies there! Your Teacher Was Right … Creating Adventures with the 6 W’s
